Anti-illegal drug agents have seized P3 million worth of ecstacy in two envelopes from Germany that were intercepted by the Bureau of Customs (BoC) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Over 2,000 tablets of ecstasy worth P1,750 to P2,000 per piece were found in the envelopes sniffed out by a K-9 unit, Jun Veneracion reported on Balitanghali on Wednesday.
The tablets, which were reportedly of high quality considering its origin and are likely to end up in upscale bars in the country, will be turned over to PDEA for proper disposal.
The report said agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) received a tip that a suspicious package will arrive from Germany before the bust.
The envelopes were addressed to a certain Darwin Bernardino, a name authorities claimed may have been faked.
Authorities said the persons behind the attempted smuggling might have been tipped off on the raid. Certain figures will soon be investigated in connection to the crime, the report said.
